Wike Challenges Amaechi Over $308m Rivers Power Plant Sale
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has renewed his call on former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, to account for the alleged $308 million proceeds from the sale of Rivers State-owned power plants.
Wike made the call during a town hall interactive meeting with the Ogbakor Etche and other stakeholders in Etche Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The FCT Minister challenged Amaechi to publicly explain the whereabouts of the funds, urging national television stations to invite the former governor for a live discussion on the matter.
Wike said the issue should be openly addressed and called on relevant media organisations to provide a platform for Amaechi to respond to questions surrounding the alleged transaction.
“Invite Amaechi and ask him where the $308 million is,” Wike said, reiterating his demand for transparency over the funds.
The latest remarks further deepen the long-running political dispute between Wike and Amaechi, who have remained prominent figures in Rivers State politics.
