BREAKING NEWS: Senator Adeola Yayi Promises Greater Muslim Inclusion in Ogun Governance

The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has pledged to promote greater inclusion of Muslims in governance and ensure they benefit more from government opportunities if elected governor.

Senator Yayi made the commitment on Saturday during the installation and turbaning ceremony of the new Grand Chief Imam of Yewaland, Sheikh Uthman Fasasi Amode Akewukanwo, held at the Asade Agunloye Pavilion in Ilaro, Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.

The event attracted prominent Islamic leaders from across Ogun State, including the Grand Chief Imam of Remoland and President of the Ogun State League of Imams and Alfas, Sheikh Quadri Abiola Jinadu; the Grand Chief Imam of Ijebuland, Sheikh Muftaudeen Ayanbadejo; and the Grand Chief Imam of Egbaland, Sheikh Alade Bamgbola.

Earlier in the day, Senator Yayi was also received by members of the Egba Muslim Community in Abeokuta, further strengthening his engagement with Muslim stakeholders across the state.

Addressing the gathering, the APC governorship hopeful reaffirmed his dedication to supporting the Muslim community, citing his various contributions over the years. He highlighted the sponsorship of about 500 Muslim faithful for the 2026 Hajj pilgrimage, alongside numerous goodwill initiatives during Islamic celebrations and religious activities.

According to him, his administration would continue to prioritize inclusiveness and ensure Muslims are adequately represented in governance and public service opportunities.

“I make a solemn pledge to carry Muslims along in governance and other benefits in the future, just as I have been doing,” Senator Yayi stated.

The ceremony drew a large crowd of political leaders, government officials, Islamic clerics, supporters, and community leaders. Among the dignitaries present were Ogun State Deputy Governor, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Minister of State for Health and Social Services, Dr. Adekunle Isiaq Salako; former Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Alhaja Salmot Badru; former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraju Adekunmbi; and Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Lateefat Bolanle Ajayi.

Others in attendance included Hon. Abiodun Akinlade, Baba Adinni of Yewaland; Hon. Gboyega Nosiru Isiaka, Seriki Adinni of Yewaland; former Ogun State governorship candidate, Hon. Adekunle Abdulkabir Akinlade; APC Senatorial Candidate for Ogun West, Hon. Jimoh Ojugbele; Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Olaolu Olabimtan; Special Adviser to the Governor, Hon. Babatunde Olaotan; Hon. Adebisi Citiside, and several other government officials and Islamic leaders.

Participants described the installation of Sheikh Uthman Fasasi Amode Akewukanwo as Grand Chief Imam of Yewaland as a historic and unifying occasion for Muslims in Ogun West and the wider Ogun State community.
