BREAKING NEWS: ADC Raises Alarm Over Alleged Appointment Crisis, Questions Tinubu’s Authority

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed serious concerns over what it described as an appointment crisis within President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, claiming recent developments have raised questions about who truly exercises authority within the Federal Government.

In a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the opposition party called on the National Assembly to investigate the situation and determine whether the President remains fully in control of the constitutional powers attached to his office.

The ADC’s reaction follows reports surrounding the Border Communities Development Agency (BCDA), where a government official allegedly continued to occupy and operate from an office despite reportedly being removed through a presidential directive.

According to the party, if the reports are accurate, the issue goes beyond a simple disagreement over appointments and points to a deeper problem within the administration.

The ADC questioned how an individual could allegedly remain in office after a presidential announcement removing him, arguing that such a development suggests a conflict over who holds real authority in government.

The party also linked the incident to previous controversies, including the alleged activities of the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), which it described as a “phantom agency” that reportedly operated despite lacking official recognition.

ADC maintained that these incidents collectively indicate a troubling pattern in which presidential decisions on appointments and removals are allegedly being challenged or ignored.

The opposition party further argued that repeated policy reversals by the Federal Government have contributed to public uncertainty. It cited examples such as the suspension of the Cybersecurity Levy and the withdrawal of the Expatriate Employment Levy following public criticism and resistance from stakeholders.

According to the ADC, a government that frequently reverses its decisions risks losing both credibility and authority, creating confusion within public institutions and among investors.

The party therefore demanded clear answers from the Presidency, asking who authorizes key appointments, whether presidential directives are being overridden, and who was responsible for allegedly allowing an unrecognized agency to operate under the guise of the Presidency.

ADC stressed that these concerns are not merely political questions but constitutional issues that directly affect the integrity of executive authority and the stability of governance in Nigeria.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency has not officially responded to the allegations raised by the opposition party.
