BREAKING NEWS: FCT Minister Wike blast Amaechi Over Protest Appearance With Son
FCT Minister Barr. Nyesom Wike has publicly criticised former Rivers State Governor and ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi over his involvement in the recent “Occupy the National Assembly” protests, particularly Amaechi’s claim that he brought his son, a medical doctor, to the demonstrations to provide medical support.
Wike, speaking on Tuesday during a lecture at the University of Abuja’s Faculty of Social Sciences, mocked the gesture, saying Amaechi’s son had no medical equipment or ambulance, and dismissed the act as little more than political theatre designed to garner sympathy. He accused opposition figures of hypocrisy for suddenly championing issues like electronic transmission of election results only after leaving public office.
The protest which included Amaechi’s participation was organised to pressure the National Assembly over mandatory electronic transmission of election results, a contentious issue in ongoing electoral reform discussions.
