Tinubu Swears in New FCC Chairman, Commissioners
Abuja, Jan 22, 2026 President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Thursday swore in Hon. Hulayat Ayo Omidiran as the new Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and administered the oath of office to 37 commissioners — one from each of the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory — alongside Mohammed Musa, who was appointed Secretary of the Commission.
The brief ceremony took place at the Council Chamber of the State House, Abuja, with senior officials such as Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, Minister of Solid Minerals Development Dr. Dele Alake, and Permanent Secretary Temitope Fashedemi in attendance.
Key points about the new leadership
Hon. Hulayat Ayo Omidiran— a 59-year-old former two-term member of the House of Representatives (Ayedaade/Irewole/Isokan, Osun State). She holds a Biochemistry degree from Ahmadu Bello University, has extensive legislative and sports-administration experience, and founded Omidiran Babes Football Club. She succeeds Dr. Muheeba Dankaka, whose tenure was described as “dogged by controversy.”
