BREAKING NEWS: God Gave Me a Second Chance” — Broda Shaggi Opens Up About Near-Death Experience After Being Hit by Stray Bullet

God Gave Me a Second Chance” — Broda Shaggi Opens Up About Near-Death Experience After Being Hit by Stray Bullet

Popular Nigerian comedian and skit maker, Samuel Animashaun Perry, widely known as Broda Shaggi, has opened up about his frightening near-death experience months after he was reportedly hit by a stray bullet while returning from a work engagement.

The entertainer recounted the traumatic incident in a detailed interview shared on his YouTube channel on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, revealing how the experience left him fighting for his life and uncertain about his future in the entertainment industry.

According to Broda Shaggi, the incident occurred on March 9, 2026, after he and his team had completed a brand activation and filming assignment around the Sango-Ota Bridge area. While they were caught in traffic on their way out, an unexpected gunshot changed everything.

“We were done shooting and got stuck in traffic. Suddenly, I heard a loud bang and everywhere went silent. I could see people talking, but I couldn’t hear anything. Then I touched my hip, saw blood, and realised I had been hit by a stray bullet,” he recalled.

The comedian explained that he lost consciousness shortly afterwards, with his only concern being whether he would survive the ordeal.

“I was totally unconscious till I got to the hospital. All that was in my mind was just to survive. I didn’t want to die,” he said.

Emergency Treatment and Hospital Transfer

Broda Shaggi further disclosed that he was initially taken to a hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, where medical personnel attempted to assess the injury. However, he was subsequently referred to another facility because the first hospital reportedly lacked the necessary equipment to manage his condition.

“When I got to the first hospital, they tried to cut my clothes to see where the bullet hit. They took me to another hospital because they said they didn’t have enough equipment to handle me. I was sweating,” he recounted.

He was later transferred to a medical facility in the Government Residential Area (GRA) of Ikeja, where he received more urgent attention and was taken into the emergency room.

According to the entertainer, the swift response at the second hospital gave him renewed confidence that he would survive the frightening experience.

“We got to the other hospital, they were swift, put me in the emergency room. By that time, my mind was settled that I was going to make it through this moment,” he added.

Months of Hospitalisation and Fear of Losing His Career

Beyond the immediate danger, Broda Shaggi revealed that his recovery was a difficult and emotionally challenging journey. He said he spent months in the hospital and was unable to move his leg, leaving him worried about whether he would ever return to making skits and entertaining his audience.

The comedian also admitted that watching his colleagues continue to release content on social media was emotionally painful, as he feared his absence might cause fans to forget him.

“I was hospitalised for months, and I felt so useless. I would see my colleagues post skits and burst into tears because I wasn’t sure I would ever be able to do it again. I was scared people would have forgotten me by the time I returned,” he said.

His revelation offers a glimpse into the emotional struggles entertainers may face when unexpected health challenges interrupt their careers and separate them from the audiences they have worked hard to build.

Broda Shaggi Celebrates His Second Chance at Life

Describing March 9 as “a day in my life I wished never happened,” the comedian titled his comeback video “The Second Chance,” reflecting on his survival and the difficult road to recovery.

His decision to speak publicly about the incident has also drawn attention to the unpredictable dangers of stray bullets and the devastating consequences such incidents can have on innocent people.

For Broda Shaggi, the experience was more than a physical ordeal; it was a life-changing moment that forced him to confront the possibility of losing both his life and his career.

His story is a reminder of the value of life, resilience and gratitude in the face of adversity. As he looks ahead to new projects and a return to entertaining his fans, many will be hoping to see him regain his strength and continue his successful journey in the Nigerian entertainment industry.

Welcome back, Broda Shaggi! We thank God for preserving your life and giving you another chance. May your recovery continue to progress, and may your comeback bring even greater success, joy and exciting projects for your fans.
