BREAKING NEWS: APC Donates N52 Million to Families of 37 Miners Who Died in NSCDC Custody

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has donated N52 million to survivors and families of the 37 miners who died while in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Niger State.

Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago, disclosed the donation on Tuesday while receiving the APC National Working Committee (NWC), led by National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, during a condolence visit to the state.

Governor Bago commended the APC leadership for its intervention and expressed appreciation for the financial support extended to the families affected by the tragedy.

He explained that a state committee headed by his deputy, Yakubu Garba, would collaborate with the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Farouk Umar-Bahago, to ensure that the funds are transparently distributed to the intended beneficiaries.

APC Expresses Condolences

Speaking during the visit, Yilwatda conveyed the condolences of the APC leadership to the Niger State Government, the affected families and residents of the state.

He acknowledged the difficult circumstances confronting Niger State, particularly the security challenges recorded in recent times.

“This is not a good moment for the country, especially Niger State,” Yilwatda said.

He assured the affected families of the party’s sympathy and prayers, while urging them to remain strong during the difficult period.

Yilwatda also commended Governor Bago for his response to the incident and assured the state government of the APC’s continued support.

He said the party remained hopeful that the challenges facing the state would be overcome and that the goodwill and resilience of the people would prevail.

Condolence Visit to Emir’s Palace

After meeting with Governor Bago, the APC National Chairman led members of the NWC to the palace of the Emir of Minna for a separate condolence visit.

The delegation used the occasion to commiserate with the traditional institution, the affected families and the people of Niger State over the deaths.
