BREAKING NEWS: Wike Positioning Himself for Future Presidency, Rufai Oseni Claims

Arise Television’s Morning Show anchor, Rufai Oseni, has linked the recent political activities of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to what he described as a possible future presidential ambition.

Oseni made the assertion while commenting on the growing disagreement between Wike and governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over political arrangements ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to Oseni, Wike’s current political calculations should not be viewed solely through the lens of the 2027 election. He argued that the FCT minister could be strategically building political relationships and influence with a longer-term presidential bid in mind.

Oseni also suggested that President Bola Tinubu may be cautious in handling the disagreement between Wike and the APC governors because of the importance of maintaining political alliances ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

“All of this Wike is playing, forget it, he has presidential ambitions,” Oseni said during the programme.

He further argued that Wike’s political activities could become more significant after the 2027 elections, particularly regarding the future direction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The comments come amid an ongoing dispute between Wike and the APC Governors’ Forum over the minister’s proposed “Rainbow Coalition.” Wike has maintained that his support for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election does not prevent the PDP from fielding candidates for governorship and legislative positions.

The APC governors, however, have opposed political arrangements they believe could weaken the party or create divided loyalty among its members.

Wike has also rejected suggestions that his political activities amount to joining the APC, insisting that his stated objective is to mobilise support for Tinubu’s re-election.
