Tinubu Commends Adeleke’s Mobilisation, Urges Fair Treatment of Political Opponents
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his electoral success, while urging him to govern inclusively and ensure that political opponents are treated fairly regardless of party affiliation.
Speaking during a meeting with Governor Adeleke at the Presidential Villa on Thursday, President Tinubu emphasized the importance of fostering unity and avoiding the stigmatisation of individuals or groups based on political differences.
The President encouraged the governor to create an environment where all political tendencies in Osun State are given equal consideration and opportunities, stressing that democratic governance thrives when leaders accommodate diverse viewpoints.
During the meeting, Tinubu also acknowledged Adeleke’s impressive performance in the recent Osun governorship election, highlighting the governor’s ability to mobilise support across the state.
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, emerged victorious after securing 511,067 votes. He defeated the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes.
The election result reflected the strong support Adeleke garnered from voters across the state and underscored the effectiveness of his campaign strategy and grassroots mobilisation efforts.
Commending the governor and his political team, President Tinubu praised their organisational work throughout the election period, describing their mobilisation efforts as highly effective.
“And you did a very good mobilization with your team. Very good job,” the President said.
Tinubu’s remarks combined recognition of Adeleke’s electoral achievement with a call for inclusive governance, urging the governor to ensure that political differences do not influence the treatment of opponents or stakeholders in Osun State.
The meeting is seen as a significant gesture of statesmanship, with the President encouraging cooperation, fairness, and political tolerance in the state’s post-election environment.
