FEC Approves ₦438 Billion Road Infrastructure and Trailer Park Projects Across Nigeria

The Federal Executive Council (FEC), chaired by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has approved a series of major road infrastructure projects and trailer park concessions valued at approximately ₦438 billion as part of efforts to improve transportation networks and boost economic activities across the country.

The approvals were granted during Wednesday’s FEC meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting, the Minister of State for Works, Bello Goronyo, said the projects cover key road construction, rehabilitation, and public-private partnership initiatives aimed at enhancing connectivity, reducing travel time, and supporting trade and logistics nationwide.

Approved Road Projects

Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure–Osun Border Road, Ekiti State

The council approved ₦159.83 billion for the reconstruction of the Ado-Ekiti–Iyin–Aramoko–Itawure–Osun border road. The contract was awarded to CBC Global Civil and Building Construction Nigeria Ltd.

Abeokuta–Iboro–Ilaro Road, Ogun State

A variation order worth ₦54.12 billion was approved for the ongoing rehabilitation of the Abeokuta–Iboro–Ilaro Road, a critical route linking communities within Ogun State.

Port Harcourt–Eleme Junction–Onne Port Junction Road, Rivers State

FEC approved ₦74.51 billion for the reconstruction of the 15-kilometre section of the East-West Road stretching from Port Harcourt through Eleme Junction to Onne Port Junction. The project was awarded to RCC Nigeria Ltd. with a completion timeline of nine months.

Ado-Ekiti–Afe Babalola University Road, Ekiti State

The council also approved ₦54.52 billion for the second phase of the rehabilitation of the Ado-Ekiti–Afe Babalola University Road, which forms part of the larger Ado–Ijan–Iluomobi–Imesi–Ondo border corridor.

Ilara–Iselu Road, Ogun State

A sum of ₦94.24 billion was approved for Phases II to V of the Ilara–Iselu Road project. The contract was awarded to JRB Construction Company Ltd. with a completion period of 24 months.

Trailer Park and Highway Concession Projects

In addition to the road projects, the council approved several concession agreements under public-private partnership arrangements designed to improve road infrastructure management and logistics services.

Dikko–Maje Section of Suleja–Minna Road, Niger State

FEC approved a ₦56.75 billion concession for the development of the 7.9-kilometre Dikko–Maje section of the Suleja–Minna Road. The project was granted to Graciatech Engineering Nigeria Ltd. under a 40-year concession agreement.

Lagos–Ibadan Expressway Operations and Maintenance

The council approved a ₦96.43 billion concession for the operation and maintenance of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway. The project will be managed by LIB Concession Group under a 25-year agreement.

Aro-Ngwa Trailer Park, Abia State

To strengthen logistics infrastructure, FEC approved the development of a greenfield trailer park at Aro-Ngwa in Abia State. The ₦19.70 billion project was awarded to Greg Jane International Ltd. under a 50-year concession arrangement.

Boosting Infrastructure and Economic Growth

The latest approvals reflect the Federal Government’s ongoing commitment to upgrading Nigeria’s road network and improving transportation infrastructure through a combination of direct investment and public-private partnerships. The projects are expected to enhance connectivity, facilitate trade, improve road safety, and support economic growth across various regions of the country.

With several strategic highways and logistics facilities now set for development and rehabilitation, stakeholders anticipate significant improvements in the movement of goods and people nationwide.
