BREAKING NEWS: Monica Kaltho Withdraws Court Case Challenging PDP Gombe Governorship Primary

Gombe, Nigeria — Monica Yahaya Kaltho, a former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State, has officially withdrawn from a court case challenging the party’s governorship primary election.

The lawsuit, filed by some aggrieved aspirants, questioned the outcome of the PDP primary process, particularly the presentation of a sole candidate for affirmation during the exercise.

Kaltho’s decision to exit the legal action was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by Hussaini Ali Muhammed, media aide to former Gombe State Governor, Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo.

In addition to withdrawing from the case, Kaltho publicly declared her support for the PDP governorship candidate, Professor Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami, and pledged to work towards securing his victory in the 2027 gubernatorial election.

Commitment to Party Unity

Explaining the reasons behind her decision, Kaltho said she acted after extensive consultations and in response to an appeal by Senator Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, whom she described as a respected leader and father figure within the party.

According to her, Dankwambo urged her to discontinue the legal challenge in the interest of unity, stability, and progress within the PDP.

Kaltho stated that she accepted the appeal because preserving party cohesion and advancing the development of Gombe State were more important than individual political ambitions.

Focus on 2027 Elections

She further called on PDP members and supporters across the state to remain united and focused on the party’s objective of winning the 2027 governorship election.

Kaltho emphasized the need for collective efforts to strengthen the PDP and position it to provide effective leadership and governance for the people of Gombe State.

Her withdrawal from the lawsuit is expected to ease tensions within the party and reinforce ongoing efforts to build consensus ahead of the 2027 electoral contest.
