BREAKING NEWS: Ahoada West Council Partners With Egbujiofor Family To Ensure Befitting Burial For Late Rt. Hon. Christian Ewah

The Ahoada West Local Government Area Council has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a dignified and befitting burial ceremony for the late Rt. Hon. Christian Ewah, former Leader of the Ahoada West Legislative Assembly, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to public service and the development of the council area.

The commitment was made during a meeting between the Council leadership and the Egbujiofor Family Burial Committee held at the Council Secretariat on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, to discuss arrangements for the final rites of the late lawmaker.

The Executive Chairman of Ahoada West Local Government Area, High Chief Hon. Eugene Chita Epelle, JP, who presided over the meeting, disclosed that the Council had received a formal communication from Barr. Nnamdi Osokolo, presented through Chief Goodlive Ozor, proposing August 28, 2026, as the burial date.

However, the Chairman noted that the proposed date was yet to be officially harmonised with the Council, as it coincided with an existing official engagement of the Local Government.

High Chief Epelle described the late Rt. Hon. Christian Ewah as a distinguished public servant who served as Leader of the Ahoada West Legislative Assembly from 2019 to 2024 with dedication, integrity, and exemplary leadership.

He stated that the Council considers it a duty and honour to support the burial arrangements, ensuring that the ceremony reflects the dignity of the office held by the late legislator and celebrates the legacy he left behind.

After extensive deliberations, both parties agreed to maintain close collaboration to ensure a smooth, coordinated, and memorable burial programme in honour of the late lawmaker.

Members of the Egbujiofor Family Burial Committee expressed appreciation to the Executive Chairman and the entire Ahoada West Local Government Council for their support, solidarity, and commitment towards giving Rt. Hon. Christian Ewah a befitting farewell.

The meeting was attended by the Senior Special Assistant on Administration, Hon. Magnus Okai; Secretary to the Council, Hon. Macmillan Ogbonna; Leader of the Ahoada West Legislative Assembly, Rt. Hon. Jonathan Cheta; members of the Egbujiofor Family Burial Committee; and other senior officials of the Local Government.

The Ahoada West Local Government Area Council reiterated its resolve to honour the contributions of its past leaders and continue promoting responsible governance, institutional continuity, and service to the people.
