BREAKING NEWS: Don’t believe what the FCT Minister, Wike, is saying, what he is saying is totally incorrect–Salihu
According to a report by The Sun on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, Dr Ladan Salihu, has advised Nigerians to be cautious about accepting comments attributed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, concerning the ongoing disagreement over the venue for the party’s national convention in Abuja.
He maintained that the narrative being circulated around the issue does not accurately reflect what transpired between the party and relevant authorities.
Speaking in the build-up to the ADC national convention, Salihu addressed claims that the party did not formally apply to use Eagle Square for the event.
He insisted that the party followed due process and had already engaged the appropriate authorities, including stakeholders responsible for security coordination and the management of public facilities, in relation to securing a venue for the gathering.
He further explained that despite these engagements and communications, the party was still unable to gain access to major public event locations within the Federal Capital Territory.
According to him, this included Eagle Square as well as other prominent venues that are typically used for large political and public gatherings in Abuja.
Salihu also firmly rejected the version of events presented by the FCT Minister, describing it as inconsistent with the actual situation.
He maintained that the explanation given by Wike did not align with the steps taken by the party and suggested that the account being circulated was misleading in its presentation of facts surrounding the venue arrangement process.
He went on to confirm that the African Democratic Congress would proceed with its planned national convention as scheduled, despite the difficulties encountered in securing a preferred location.
He disclosed that the event would now take place at the Rainbow Event Centre in Area 8, Abuja, which has been designated as the new venue for the gathering.
Salihu added that preparations for the convention had already been concluded and that the party remained focused on ensuring a successful event.
He stated that the ADC was moving forward with its plans without disruption, emphasizing that logistical challenges had not halted the overall organisation of the convention.
“Don’t believe what the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, is saying. What he is saying is totally incorrect,” he added.
