BREAKING NEWS: Governor Fubara has endured over time, Amaewhule will not allow Wike to impose - Fubara

Breaking news: Governor Fubara has endured over time, Amaewhule will not allow Wike to impose - Fubara

Political analyst Caleb Fubara has shed light on the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, focusing on the complex dynamics between Governor Siminalayi Fubara, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike, and the state House of Assembly under Speaker Martins Amaewhule.

Speaking during a recent interview on News Central TV, Fubara detailed the pressures facing the state government and the intricate balance of power that has emerged within its leadership.

“What Governor Fubara has endured over time, Amaewhule will not allow Wike to impose,” Caleb Fubara remarked, referring to the influence of former Governor Nyesom Wike on state politics. He emphasized that Governor Fubara has faced persistent interference from Wike, who continues to wield considerable sway in decision-making, even after leaving office.

According to the analyst, Speaker Amaewhule has demonstrated resilience, acting as a counterbalance to ensure that governance is not compromised by external pressures.

Tracing the roots of the crisis, Fubara pointed to the enduring political legacies of former leaders such as Peter Odili and Rotimi Amaechi.

He argued that these entrenched networks have complicated the governor’s ability to govern independently, resulting in ongoing struggles over authority and control within the state.

Beyond the influence of former leaders, Fubara also highlighted the growing role of civic organizations, particularly groups like Rivers Awake.

These grassroots movements, he noted, are dedicated to empowering citizens, promoting transparency, and holding political officeholders accountable.

By fostering public engagement and advocating for good governance, such organizations provide a counterweight to entrenched political interests, offering hope for a more balanced and accountable leadership structure.

Concluding his analysis, Caleb Fubara stressed that the stability and development of Rivers State depend on supporting leaders who prioritize public service over personal or political ambitions. “If these systemic power struggles are not addressed, public confidence will continue to erode, and the democratic process in Rivers State could be further weakened,” he warned.
