Fubara: 'When Abba Yusuf Decided To Leave The NNPP, He Left With A Number Of People To APC' -Dahiru
Political analyst and security expert Dr. Majeed Dahiru has faulted Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara for failing to bring supporters along during his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC), unlike his counterparts in Kano and Bayelsa states.
During an interview with Channels TV, Dahiru argued that occupying a governor's position does not automatically translate to effective political leadership. "You can't blame the president, because, you see, the hood does not make the monk. That you're a governor does not necessarily mean you have to demonstrate that leadership in an extraordinary manner," he said.
Dahiru cited Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf as an example of successful political mobilization. "Look at Kano. When Abba Yusuf decided to leave the NNPP, he left with a number of people. Some didn't go with him, but a large number of people left with him in his cabinet," he noted.
He also referenced Bayelsa State's governor, stating, "Look at the man in Bayelsa. When he was leaving the PDP, he left with supporters. He had a godfather, but he left with a chunk of the cabinet and some members of the political establishment."
The analyst challenged Fubara's political influence by questioning his ability to attract defectors. "Tell me the person that Fubara has brought into the APC since the day he, as a member of the APC in Government House said he defected as one," Dahiru asked?
