Electoral Act: Don’t take Nigerians for granted – PDP Spokesman warns Senate
The National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ini Ememobong, has warned the Senate not to take Nigerians for granted.
Ememobong spoke on Thursday when he featured in an interview on Channels Television’s ‘The Morning Brief’, describing Nigerians as patient people whose tolerance should not be abused.
He was reacting to reports that the Senate rejected the mandatory electronic transmission of election results.
The PDP mouthpiece emphasized that it was the primary duty of lawmakers to legislate appropriately for the administration of the country.
“If the Supreme Court in its judgment has identified the lacuna and passed the ball back to the National Assembly, the most primary duty is to legislate for the administration of this country.
“Nigerians are very patient people. You push them to the wall, they begin to make a hole in the wall, but somehow their minds change and you find them coming out straight for you. It happened during the #EndSARS,” he said.
He appealed to legislators and the political class to take the issue seriously, describing the proposed amendment as one Nigerians have been waiting for.
The PDP spokesman added that future elections in Nigeria should be better than previous ones.
