BREAKING NEWS: APC Chairman Disclaims going Against Rivers Governor, Demands Formal Complaint

BREAKING NEWS: APC Chairman  Disclaims going Against Rivers Governor, Demands Formal Complaint

During an interview with TVC, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, addressed questions surrounding the leadership dynamics of the party in Rivers State, particularly concerning Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

The interviewer suggested that unlike many other states where governors are widely acknowledged as leaders of their party’s state chapters, Fubara appeared unable to firmly assert such control within the APC in Rivers State.

Responding to this assertion, Professor Yilwatda firmly rejected the premise of the question. He stated that as the national chairman, he had not received any formal complaint or petition indicating that Governor Fubara was struggling to lead the party in the state.

He repeatedly challenged the interviewer to provide tangible evidence, such as a written petition or an official complaint, to support the claim. According to him, without such documentation, the allegation remained speculative and unverified.

Yilwatda emphasized that rumors, media commentary, or public discussions do not amount to official complaints that the party’s national leadership can act upon. He stressed that the APC operates on formal processes and that grievances must be properly documented and submitted through the appropriate channels.

In his words, questions about leadership effectiveness should be backed by concrete evidence rather than assumptions or second-hand reports. By taking this stance, the APC chairman underscored the party’s preference for due process and institutional order.

He made it clear that until a formal complaint is presented, the national leadership has no basis to question Governor Fubara’s position or authority within the Rivers State chapter of the party.
