The People’s Democratic Party Support Groups in Yobe State have categorically denied circulating rumours about the party’s collapse.

At a press briefing in Damaturu on Monday, the  Director Lawan Munkaila, speaking on behalf of the support groups, emphasised that the Yobe PDP remains strong, organised, and people-oriented.

“The PDP in Yobe State is not dead, divided, or weakened,” Munkaila stated.

“The party’s structure remains intact, with no official executive members joining the African Democratic Congress,” he insisted.

He attributed the rumours to desperate allies of the ADC.

As a result, the PDP Support Groups reaffirmed their commitment to the party and its ideals, stressing that “the PDP is the most organised and experienced political platform in Yobe State.”

Arewa PUNCH reports that the statement aims at setting the records straight and reassure party members and supporters that the PDP remains a strong and viable political option in Yobe State.

Meanwhile, the recent exit of Adamu Maina Waziri, a former chieftain of the PDP in Yobe State, has been met with a strong response from the party’s state leadership.

In a statement, the PDP Yobe State Publicity Secretary, Salihu Mohammed Baba, described the reports of the party’s decline as “misleading, unfounded, and a deliberate attempt to misinform the public and undermine the party’s renewed vigor.”

The party leadership attributed Waziri’s resignation to his long-standing role as an obstacle to unity and progress within the party.

According to the statement, “Waziri’s exit has removed a significant impediment, allowing the PDP to shed internal sabotage, factional manipulation, and leadership interference that had historically hindered its cohesion and electoral performance in the state.”

The Yobe PDP maintained that its structure remains intact and is growing stronger, with no intention of joining any coalition. The party’s leadership assured that its organisational framework, from the ward to the state level, is solid and functional.

“Our doors remain open, and we welcome new members interested in joining the party,” the statement concluded.
