BREAKING NEWS: Wike mandates IBB Golf Club panel to assume duty
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has directed the newly constituted Interim Management Committee of the Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida Golf Club to assume duties without delay.
A statement issued by the minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, confirmed the development. According to the statement, the committee will function under the supervision of the Board of Trustees led by the President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem.
Wike emphasixed the urgency of restoring proper management at the IBB Golf Club, noting:
“The Interim Management Committee is to commence work immediately. We are committed to restoring order and efficiency to the IBB Golf Club, which has recently experienced internal challenges.”
The new committee is chaired by Dr. Peter Deshi, with Yomi Oyelola serving as secretary. Other members include Otunba Gbenga Elegbeleye, Arc. Nanwor Mamven, Mrs. Ekanem Ekwueme, Arc. Arabi Bello, Lawan Aboki, Okey Nnaedozie, Fred Otobo, and Julius Fadairo.
The minister also addressed concerns regarding the ownership of the prestigious club, stating: “Let it be clear that the IBB Golf Club remains the property of the Federal Capital Territory Administration.”
The formation of the interim committee is part of a broader effort by the FCT Administration to ensure transparency, accountability, and proper governance within the club’s operations.
