BREAKING NEWS: Newcastle beat Liverpool in Carabao Cup final
Newcastle United have made history as they defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the final of the Carabao Cup at Wembley on Sunday.
The Magpies secured their first domestic trophy for 70 years – and ended a wait for a major prize stretching back to 1969.
Dan Burn and Alexander Isak scored in the 45th and 52nd minutes respectively to put Newcastle on course for a big triumph.
Liverpool pulled a goal back through substitute Federico Chiesa in stoppage time, but Newcastle held on to clinch victory.
The Reds were knocked out of the Champions League on penalties by Paris St-Germain in midweek.
They were also knocked out of the English FA Cup, but are leading the pack in the Premier League with 12 points.
