Panel to investigate Anambra collapsed school building set up

Justice Pete Obiora of the Court of Appeal is to head a high-powered investigative panel to look into the immediate and remote cause of the collapse of a five-story building under construction at the Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha, Anambra State.
Addressing newsmen at the site of the incident in Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha premises, the Bishop of the Niger Anglican Communion, the Right Reverend Owen Nwokolo said nobody has come up to say anything on the cause of the collapse since last week.
Bishop Nwokolo regretted that the building was meant to commemorate the one hundred years of the Dennis Memorial Grammar School Onitsha which was established in 1925.
Earlier the Primate of the Province of the Niger and Bishop of Awka Diocese, the Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim had observed that it would have been a tragedy because lots of lives would have been lost.
The Most Reverend Ibezim said that students of the institution were on break during the incident and commended the Anambra State government for assistance rendered in the evacuation of the rubble while appealing for the involvement of the church in any step the government takes.
