MHWUN advocates inclusion of labour leaders in governance
The President, Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria, Dr Kabiru Minjibir has solicited inclusion of more labour leaders in leadership positions in the country.
Dr Kabir Ado Minjibir stated this during a meeting with the special Assistant to the Governor of Kogi state on Labour mattar, Comrade Onuh Edoka, urged all the health workers in Kogi state to support the Governor through qualitative, effective and efficient health care delivery in the state.
He also appreciated the Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Isman Adodo for improving the welfare and well being of Workers in the state through prompt payment of salaries and pensioners.
“Medical and Health Workers Union have so many members of the Union appointed by some Governors in this country. So I think we will use this opportunity to appreciate the Governors that appointed our members in different positions to assist them” he stated.
”Am quite sure that with this development they will do their best with their wealth of experience in helping the Governors in discharging his responsibilities. I want to seize this opportunity to thank the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Gov Ododo for improving the welfare and well being of Workers in the state.”

Earlier, the special Assistant on labour to the Kogi state Governor, Comrade Onuh Johnson Edoka, who was a former NLC chairman in Kogi state told the President of the Union on the industrial harmony being enjoyed in Kogi state presently.
Comrade Edoka enumerated some of the interventions of the Governor which has led to industrial peace in Kogi state.
“There is prompt payment of salaries in kogi state, His Excellency has paid pensioners hundred percent pension, he has equally implemented 35 % hazard allowance to all categories of health workers at the state level. His Excellency has paid for six months health insurance scheme for all categories of workers in the state to the state health insurance agency as a take of for workers payment into that agency. He has also approved for payment for CONMES for Veterinary Doctors in Kogi state” he stated.
On the controversial 30,000 minimum wage for kogi state workers, the Comrade Edoka announced that it is being paid the workers, which was a result of the struggles of labour Unions in the state.
According to Mr Edoka, the Governor of Kogi state promised the Medical and Health Workers Union that the right and interest of workers will be adequately protected and promoted.
