BREAKING NEWS: Ogene Criticises Umahi, Labels Him ‘Minister of Coastal Highway and Failed Internal Roads’

BREAKING NEWS: Ogene Criticises Umahi, Labels Him ‘Minister of Coastal Highway and Failed Internal Roads’

The Member representing Ogbaru Federal Constituency of Anambra State in the House of Representatives and Spokesperson of the Minority Caucus in the 10th National Assembly, Hon. Afam Ogene, has criticised the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi, over the condition of federal roads, particularly in Nigeria’s South-East region.

Speaking during an interview on Symfoni TV, Ogene reportedly described Umahi as the “Minister of Coastal Highway and Failed Internal Roads,” questioning the state of road infrastructure under the minister’s supervision.

The lawmaker expressed concern over the deplorable condition of several federal roads, suggesting that the Minister of Works should be held accountable for the state of road infrastructure across the country.

According to Ogene, while different ministers oversee various sectors of the economy, the responsibility for addressing the challenges facing federal roads rests squarely with the Minister of Works.

In his remarks, he stated:

“No, no, we have ministers who are in charge of the different sectors you mentioned. And if you talk about roads, we have a professor of practice who is in charge of roads, Minister of Coastal Highway and Failed Internal Roads. That is his new designation. So, he should be able to provide the answers.”

Ogene’s comments appear to reflect growing concerns over the condition of federal roads, particularly in the South-East, where motorists and residents have continued to raise concerns about deteriorating road infrastructure.

His remarks have also brought renewed attention to the Federal Government’s road construction and rehabilitation efforts, as well as calls for greater accountability in the delivery of critical infrastructure projects.
