BREAKING NEWS: Nwibubasa Questions Wike’s Alliance Bid With Fubara After Alleged Denial of Party Tickets
Leloonu Nwibubasa, a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has questioned the rationale behind the reported efforts by the Rainbow Coalition, led by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to establish a political alliance with Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara.
Nwibubasa raised the concerns during an interview on Arise Television, where he acknowledged Wike’s political experience and understanding of the strategic importance of alliances in electoral politics. However, he expressed reservations about the timing of the reported overture to Fubara, citing the history of political disagreements between the two camps.
The ADC chieftain challenged Wike and his allies to explain why they were seeking the governor’s cooperation after allegedly denying Fubara and members of his political camp the opportunity to obtain party tickets in previous electoral contests.
He questioned the consistency of the alliance initiative, arguing that the reported move appeared difficult to reconcile with the alleged exclusion of Fubara’s loyalists from earlier electoral processes.
Nwibubasa’s remarks have brought renewed attention to the evolving political dynamics in Rivers State, particularly the relationship between Wike and Fubara as political stakeholders begin positioning themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His comments also underscore the potential challenges facing efforts to establish political alliances where previous disagreements, competing interests and allegations of exclusion remain unresolved.
As political consultations and coalition-building efforts continue, the nature of the relationship between Wike and Fubara remains a significant issue in Rivers State’s evolving political landscape.
