BREAKING NEWS: Emeka Ike Mourns Olu Jacobs, Calls Him a “Great Mentor”

Nollywood actor Emeka Ike has paid an emotional tribute to veteran actor Olu Jacobs, describing the late screen legend as more than a colleague but a mentor and teacher who had a profound influence on his career.

In a heartfelt message, Ike reflected on the privilege of learning from Jacobs and the lasting impact the veteran actor had on Nigerian theatre and film.

According to Ike, Jacobs represented a rare generation of actors whose talent, discipline, elegance and commanding presence helped shape the Nigerian entertainment industry.

He recalled how Jacobs taught him that acting goes beyond memorising lines and appearing before a camera. Rather, he said, the craft requires discipline, patience, emotional depth, timing, observation and a genuine understanding of the character being portrayed.

“Olú Jacobs was more than a great actor to me. He was my mentor, my teacher, and one of the people whose presence helped shape my understanding of the craft I love so dearly,” Ike said.

The actor also described Jacobs as a man whose greatness was evident in the way he carried himself, noting that his influence extended beyond the characters he portrayed on screen.

For Ike, the late actor's legacy will continue through the generations of actors, filmmakers and audiences who were inspired by his work.
