BREAKING NEWS: 2027 Presidency: Nigeria Needs a Leader Who Can Deliver, Atiku Is the Answer — Goodluck Nigeria Movement
The Goodluck Nigeria Movement has thrown its weight behind former Vice President Atiku Abubakar ahead of the 2027 presidential election, describing him as a leader with the experience and capacity needed to address Nigeria’s growing challenges.
The group announced its endorsement while unveiling its nationwide grassroots structure and declaring its intention to mobilise support for Atiku under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to a report published by Daily Independent on Sunday, September 13, 2026, the movement’s Convener, Emma Umerah, said the decision followed a careful assessment of the country’s political situation and the leadership options available ahead of the election.
Umerah explained that Nigeria was facing serious economic and security challenges, including rising poverty and hardship, which required experienced leadership and practical solutions.
He maintained that the country could not afford political experimentation at a time when millions of Nigerians were struggling to cope with the difficult economic situation.
Movement Plans Nationwide Mobilisation for Atiku
The Goodluck Nigeria Movement revealed plans to activate its grassroots network across Nigeria’s 36 states and 774 local government areas.
According to the organisation, the mobilisation effort will focus on engaging voters directly, creating awareness about Atiku’s proposed policies and building support for his presidential ambition.
The group expressed confidence that Atiku’s experience in public service and his policy proposals could provide a foundation for economic recovery, improved social welfare and greater national stability.
Group Speaks on Fuel Subsidy Removal
The movement also addressed the controversial issue of fuel subsidy removal, noting that Atiku had supported the elimination of subsidies as part of efforts to reduce government waste and financial leakages.
However, it stressed that such reforms must be accompanied by measures to cushion the impact on ordinary Nigerians.
Among the measures highlighted by the organisation were the introduction of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) buses, improved public transportation, direct financial support for vulnerable households and assistance for small businesses.
The group argued that these interventions would help reduce the burden of economic reforms on families and businesses.
Security and Agriculture Also Top Agenda
On insecurity, the Goodluck Nigeria Movement said Atiku’s proposed approach, which includes community policing, the use of modern technology and improved protection for farms and major highways, could help address some of the country’s security concerns.
The organisation believes that a safer environment would encourage farmers to return to their fields, improve food production, reduce food prices and create better conditions for economic growth.
Atiku Gains Support Ahead of 2027
The endorsement comes as political movements and interest groups intensify their activities ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
With several prominent politicians expected to seek the support of Nigerians, the Goodluck Nigeria Movement said it was convinced that Atiku possessed the leadership qualities required to steer the country through its current difficulties.
Explaining its position, the organisation declared:
“Nigeria is in an emergency. We need a leader who has the capacity to execute. That leader is Atiku Abubakar.”
The movement’s endorsement adds to the growing political activities surrounding the 2027 presidential race, as parties, candidates and support groups begin laying the groundwork for the contest.
