2027: ‘Everything Is Politics to You’ — Rivers ADC Tackles Wike Over Amaechi
The Rivers State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over his recent comments concerning former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
The ADC’s Rivers State spokesperson, Chizzy Enyi, made the remarks during an interview on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief, where he accused Wike of approaching virtually every issue from a political perspective.
Enyi was responding to Wike’s comments on the 2027 presidential election, in which Amaechi is serving as the ADC’s vice-presidential candidate.
Wike had reportedly said during the weekend that Rivers State voters would support President Bola Tinubu rather than Amaechi in the 2027 general elections.
The former Rivers State governor also criticised Amaechi’s record as Minister of Transportation under former President Muhammadu Buhari, claiming that he failed to deliver meaningful benefits to the people of Rivers State during his time in office.
Wike further alleged that Amaechi could ask his supporters to boycott the 2027 presidential election before 11 a.m. on election day.
Reacting to the comments, Enyi said Amaechi had chosen not to engage Wike in a public war of words.
“Amaechi has resolved not to always respond to Nyesom Wike. To Nyesom, everything is politics,” Enyi said.
He also accused the FCT minister of failing to make a meaningful contribution to the development of Rivers State.
“Honestly, there’s no value Wike has brought or is bringing to Rivers State,” he added.
The exchange adds to the growing political tension ahead of the 2027 general elections, with prominent Rivers politicians taking increasingly different positions as the race begins to take shape.
