Burna Boy, Tems, Dave and Shaboozey Secure Nominations for 2026 MTV Video Music Awards
African music stars Burna Boy, Tems, Dave, and Shaboozey have earned nominations for the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), further highlighting the continent’s growing influence on the global music scene.
Nigerian singer Tems and British-Nigerian rapper Dave received a nomination in the Best R&B category for their acclaimed collaboration, Raindance. The duo will compete against some of the industry's biggest names, including Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, and other leading artists.
Grammy-winning Afrobeats star Burna Boy also secured a nomination alongside Colombian superstar Shakira in the Best Collaboration category for their song Dai Dai. The recognition adds another milestone to Burna Boy’s impressive international career.
Meanwhile, Nigerian-American artist Shaboozey continues to make waves in the country music space with a nomination in the Best Country category for his hit track Cowgirl. The nomination underscores his growing impact in a genre traditionally dominated by American artists.
