2027 Elections: Dickson Hosts Kwankwaso in Abuja, Commends Northern Party-Building Efforts
The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Seriake Dickson, on Thursday hosted the party’s vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and a delegation of party stakeholders in Abuja.
Dickson disclosed the meeting in a post shared on his verified X account, where he praised Kwankwaso for his contributions to strengthening the party’s presence across Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the former Bayelsa State governor, the NDC had assigned Kwankwaso the responsibility of spearheading party-building efforts across the 19 northern states. He noted that despite the limited time available, the former Kano State governor delivered commendably and met the party’s expectations.
Dickson expressed appreciation for Kwankwaso’s commitment, experience, and extensive political network, which he said had been instrumental in advancing the party’s objectives in the region.
The NDC leader also revealed that recommendations emerging from Kwankwaso’s consultations with party candidates and stakeholders across the northern states, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), would be carefully considered and implemented by the party.
Speaking on the visit, Dickson described Kwankwaso as a key figure in the party’s efforts to consolidate support and strengthen internal structures ahead of the next election cycle.
“This evening, I was pleased to host our running mate and, by the grace of God, the incoming Vice President of Nigeria, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, who visited me with a large delegation comprising our governorship, National Assembly, and other stakeholders of the NDC across the northern states,” Dickson stated.
He added that he was grateful for the cooperation and support shown by party leaders and candidates during the ongoing mobilization process.
Reflecting on his own efforts, Dickson noted that over the past nine months he had remained actively involved in building the party, engaging stakeholders across the country, resolving internal concerns, and encouraging members to work closely with their state leadership.
He further commended Kwankwaso for dedicating the last two weeks to addressing several party-related issues, describing the intervention as timely and impactful.
Expressing optimism about the party’s prospects, Dickson concluded by stating that the NDC remains focused on strengthening its structures and preparing for what it believes will be a successful outing in the 2027 elections.
