BREAKING NEWS: If we fail to secure victory for Oyebamiji, your Senate tickets in APC are like bread labels–Basiru

According to a report by Daily Post on Saturday, May 30, 2026, Senator Ajibola Basiru, the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has distanced the party from individuals making disparaging comments about civil servants in Osun State.

He stated that such remarks do not reflect the views, principles, or official position of the party.

Basiru made the clarification on Friday while receiving former officials of the Local Government Education Authority (LGEA) at his residence in Osogbo.

He explained that the APC does not endorse statements capable of undermining the reputation or contributions of workers in the state’s public service.

According to him, civil servants remain an important segment of the population whose role in governance and development cannot be overlooked.

He noted that public servants have consistently contributed to the growth of Osun State and continue to play a significant role in shaping its future.

The APC National Secretary further described civil servants as key stakeholders whose support would be crucial to the party’s efforts in the forthcoming governorship election scheduled for Aug. 15.

He maintained that the party values their contributions and would not be associated with comments that could be interpreted as insulting or disrespectful to them.

Basiru also used the occasion to caution members of the APC and those seeking elective positions under the party’s platform against becoming complacent ahead of the election.

He stressed that success at the polls would require commitment, collective effort, and sustained engagement among party members across the state.

He emphasized the need for unity and reconciliation within the APC, stating that internal harmony would be essential to achieving the party’s electoral objectives.

He urged party leaders, members, and stakeholders to focus their attention on ensuring victory for the APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Bola Oyebamiji, in the upcoming election.

“Let me say this clearly: if we fail to secure victory for Oyebamiji on Aug. 15, your Senate and House of Representatives tickets in the APC are like bread labels,” he said.
