BREAKING NEWS: Delta APC Reacts to Omo-Agege’s Exit
According to a report by Nigerian Tribune on Thursday 28th May 2026, the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has said that the resignation of former Deputy Senate President, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, will not weaken its structure or affect its political strength in the state.
In a statement issued on Thursday by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Valentine Onojeghuo, the APC maintained that it remains stable, united, and firmly aligned with the leadership direction of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The party reacted to Omo-Agege’s exit with what it described as calm and confidence, insisting that the development would not disrupt its growing influence across Delta State.
According to the statement, the APC has continued to expand its grassroots support since the governor’s alignment with the party, noting that members across wards and local government areas have embraced what it called a more inclusive political structure.
It also downplayed the political relevance of Senator Ovie Omo-Agege within the party in recent years, arguing that his departure does not change the APC’s electoral prospects.
The party further rejected claims that its fortunes in Delta depend on any individual politician, stressing that it has transitioned into a more institutional and collective leadership framework.
It alleged that some of Omo-Agege’s associates had previously left the party and suggested that internal political developments had signaled his possible exit long before it happened.
Reaffirming loyalty to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori, the APC said both leaders have strengthened the party’s position in Delta State and nationwide.
The party concluded that the resignation of any single figure would not derail its plans, adding that it remains focused on consolidating its structure ahead of future elections.
