Fubara Has Lost The Trust Of Rivers People – Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa
Dr. Leloonu Nwibubasa, former Rivers State Commissioner for Employment Generation and Economic Empowerment, has said that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has a long history of promoting political crises and benefiting from them.
According to a report by Arise News on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Nwibubasa explained that political crises in Rivers State often follow a clear pattern where certain individuals gain power or advantage. He argued that past political conflicts at both the state and national levels weakened party unity and stability, while helping Wike advance politically. According to him, these crises contributed to leadership changes, election losses, and appointments that favored Wike.
Commenting on the current political situation in Rivers State, Nwibubasa said Governor Siminalayi Fubara no longer enjoys the full trust of the people. While acknowledging that Fubara initially had strong support, he claimed the governor had made several political compromises that disappointed many residents.
He said the people of Rivers State are now more concerned about leadership that can protect their rights, improve their standard of living, provide jobs, keep the environment clean, and ensure security.
He concluded by stating that Rivers people must begin to think seriously about a new political direction and a leader who truly understands their struggles and is ready to put the interests of the people first.
In his words, "He has torpedoed so many times, surrendered so many times. And so, I think he has lost the trust of Rivers people."
