Gov Fubara, Kano Gov Kabir Yusuf Absent as APC Governors Hold Meeting in Abuja [Photos]
Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Thursday held a high-level meeting in Abuja under the auspices of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF), with several party governors in attendance.
Governors Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State were notably absent from the meeting.
According to a media post by His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Taraba State, Governor Kefas Agbu, on Thursday, 29 January 2026, the closed-door meeting was held at the Imo State Liaison Office in Abuja.
The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, with members of the national leadership of the APC also in attendance.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Senator Uzodimma said the Forum reaffirmed its collective commitment to deepening internal democracy, strengthening party structures, and promoting transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness within the APC across all levels of governance.
He disclosed that the governors reviewed and endorsed the timetable and institutional framework approved by the APC National Executive Council for the forthcoming ward, local government, state, and zonal congresses, as well as the party’s national convention.
The PGF formally welcomed the governors of Taraba and Plateau States and announced plans for strategic engagements and state visits, beginning with Taraba State, to strengthen party cohesion and support progressive governance across the federation.
