The Adamawa State by-election in Ganye State Constituency recorded a high turnout on Saturday, as polling units within and outside the local government headquarters were crowded with voters.
Voting commenced as early as 8:15 a.m., with long queues of voters, especially the elderly, waiting to cast their votes.
The by-election was peaceful, as the military took over the major streets of the local government headquarters, controlling vehicular movement.
Speaking exclusively to Online Punch after casting his vote, the Chairman of Ganye Local Government, Farouk Mohammed, expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party would win the election.
He said, “The All Progressive Congress APC chieftains are busy buying votes, because their government has failed woefully, so they don’t have what to tell Nigerians.”
While reacting to the PDP’s allegations, the APC Adamawa State Organising Secretary, Mustapha Ribadu, also “accused the PDP of vote buying during the by-election.”
Ribadu assured his party faithful that the APC would win the poll. He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission for commencing the voting process as scheduled.
