The immediate past Accountant General of the Federation, Dr. Oluwatoyin Madein, has mourned the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing his confidence in her abilities as a “lifetime honour.”

Dr Madein in a condolence message on Tuesday described Buhari as an uncommon leader who prioritised integrity, discipline and highly devoted to empowering women.

The first female Accountant General of the Federation noted that Buhari’s leadership and vision for Nigeria will be greatly remembered and his impact on nation’s political landscape will forever endure

She hailed the late president as a rare breed of leader who championed integrity, discipline, and women empowerment throughout his tenure. “President Buhari was an uncommon leader whose vision and leadership will remain etched in the annals of Nigeria’s political history,” she said.

Reflecting on her appointment, Dr. Madein noted that her elevation as the first female Accountant General of the Federation under Buhari’s administration marked a turning point in her career and opened doors for many women in public service.

“I am particularly grateful for the opportunity he afforded me to serve as Accountant General of the Federation, a position I held with pride and dedication from May 18, 2023, to March 7, 2025. His faith in my abilities was an honour I will cherish forever,” she stated.

She added that Buhari’s support and belief in her capacity remain a defining moment in her professional journey.

Dr. Madein also prayed for strength for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the entire nation as they mourn the late leader.

“May Almighty Allah grant his soul eternal rest, and may his legacy continue to inspire and guide us as we strive to build a better Nigeria for all,” she concluded.
