A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Abiola Ogundokun, has declared that opposition leaders aspiring to unseat President Bola Tinubu in 2027 will suffer another defeat at the polls.

He urged the opposition leaders, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and ex-Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, to shelve their presidential ambitions and align with Tinubu’s political structure ahead of 2027.

“A wise presidential hopeful should be meeting with Tinubu now, negotiating how to succeed him, not planning to contest against him. If they choose to run in 2027, they are free, but they will be roundly defeated again,” he said in a statement on Saturday.

The Iwo-born politician described Tinubu as the “smartest politician in Nigeria today,” arguing that no other political figure in the Fourth Republic has matched his level of preparation for the presidency.

Ogundokun, a former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct National Party of Nigeria, said the Peoples Democratic Party, Labour Party and African Democratic Congress lacked the “strategic depth” to challenge Tinubu’s political dominance.

“President Tinubu is miles ahead of the opposition. Look at the gale of defections; he moves like a champion chess player, each step calculated and strategic towards the ultimate goal of victory,” he said.

Describing Tinubu as the face of Nigeria’s democratic evolution, Ogundokun said the President’s rise to power was the outcome of over two decades of political groundwork.

He said, “Tinubu’s politics should be studied in universities around the world. It embodies hope, vision, patience, goodwill, and strategic development. No Nigerian alive is as politically prepared for the presidency as he is.

“There’s a noticeable decline in terrorism and herdsmen attacks. Infrastructure projects are ongoing across the country. The subsidy removal has freed funds for states and local governments to pursue development.”

Ogundokun urged Nigerians to renew their mandate for Tinubu in 2027, saying his administration has kept its campaign promises and demonstrated a responsive style of governance.
